THE REPARATIONS REPORT.

Berlin, May 17.

The Nationalist party, which will be tho declding, factor in any coalition which will probably be formed as, the result of the elections, is showing less hostility to the adoption of Colonel Dawe's reparations report, a meeting of the party deciding in favour of the continuation of the policy of the Marx-Stresemann Government: Industrialist.banks now desperately favour the adoption of the report In consequence of the financial crisis, due to the belated effort of the Rolchabunk to arrest, the Indiscriminato grant of credits that followed the stabilisation of the Bank. Thio necessity of meeting commitments in canh has caused a stream of bankruptäies among smaller banks and retailers, The crisis is intensified by the appro- slation of the Franc, which has caused as widespread havoc among Innumerable apoculators as its fall. There is every indication that the parties of the Right will use the strongth they required in the elections, not to wreck the international svitlement, but to complete the destruction of progressive movements that have gradually weskened since the revolution. A vast Reactionary, demonstration at Halla, and similar demonstrations planned åt Berlin, Breslau and olsewhero, testify to the growing strength of the Reactionaries; and the ineffectual effort at self-assertion by the Ruhr mitiers, half a million of whom are locked out because they insisted on the establish- ment of a seven-hour shift, is evidence of the weakness of the workers.
