SIKH SHRINES TROUBLE.

Important developments are expected as a result of the resigna- tion of Mangal Singh, the president of the Central Sikh League, and hitherto lender of the Akall agitation, from the membership of the Shrines Committee. Several 'others have also resigned,
The cause is, not known, but there have been differences amongst the Sikhs regarding the committee which the Punjab Government ap-i pointed, under the presidency of General Sir W. Birdwood, to advise on the question of fresh Shrines legislation.

He promised to make the British Press, which he criticised in his Title speech, sing another tune, before long.. He described Mr. Macdonald as a "banker's clerk," and threw cold water on the Anglo-Russian conference in London. EXPRESS TRAIN COLLISION.
Berlin, April 24
It is feared that ex-Minister Helfferich, the leader of the re! actionary Nationalists, was killed in the collision between two expresses near Bellinzona, when 21 people, including a number of Germans, were incinerated.

The rumour that Herr Schacht, president of the Reichsbank, was also killed in the disaster, is unfounded, as Herr Schacht is present in Berlin-Renter.
