CHINESE TRADE MARKS LAWS.
London, March 11.
The leading British Arms in China have sent letters to the Times, setting forth their objections against the promulgation of the new Trade Mark Law, which, they declare, will weaken the whola basis whereon foreigners live and trade in China. They describe how the Law, in their opiniou, strikes at the root of the safeguards which make the investment of capital for commercial development possible.
Ar appeal will be made to Chambers of Commerce and other public bodies, to prevent the recognition of the Law in its present form, and for support in obtaining protective powers.
The letter concludes warning all concerned that if the Law is recognised in its present form, all foreign Trade Marks will became the prey of Chinese officialdom,
The Times, in a sympathetic leader, stresses the desirability of a settlement, to be reached at the earliest possible moment, in order that subjects of the Powers will not be disadvantaged against their competitors-Router.

to impress that she keeps the mastery of the Mediterranean, and Spain, France, and Italy. This manifestation of Imperialism is somewhat disebacerting at the moment, when Mr. Macdonald arises as the pacificator of Europe. It coincides with the recent vote in the House of Commons on the laying down of five cruisers, and an increase of two millions in the Air Estimates, Further, it is added, it runs the risk of arousing the suspicion, if not the hostility, of the Mediterranean powers.

FRENCH TRAIN WRECK.
Paris. March 11.
The famous London specialist, Sir St Clair Thomson, was hurt in the head and foot in the. Grand Violets disaster.

The accident, which occurred in the middle of the night, was apparently due to the driver jamming on the brakes when he covered the danger to the train, then doing sixty miles an hour.
The driver, who was late, seems to have been confused by orders as regards the use of a short alternative route.
The sleeping car, next to the engine, was almost entirely filled with English people, and was split to pieces. The dining car and another coach plunged on to the wreckage.-Router,
EVERYBODY LOVES THE SOVIET..
London, March 11.
It is learned from an officia! Rassian source that the Greek Mi ister at Bern has informed the Soviet Arabassador there that the Greek Government wished to resume diplomatic relations with the Soviet Government, and formally recogzised the Soviet.
The Soviet Government in reply notified the Greek Government agreeing to an immediate renewal of diplomatic relations, and a friendly settlement of all outstanding questions on reciprocity-Reuter.
