The formal dedication of the new Shanghai American School took place recently. The presentation was mada by Mr. W. W. Lockwood, Chairman of the Building Committee. and the buildings were received on behalf of the school by Mr. J. Harold Dollar. Captain Robert Dollar, seen to the left of the flag, made the dedicatory address. The buildings cost $700,000. and are already being used to capacity. The picture illustrates the ceremony of raising the flag.

Here is a snapshot of Mr. WINA P. Jarrett, the de- gate from the Hawaiian Islands to the United States Congress. He is the first Democrat ever to represent the Pacific island in Wash- ington.

The Japanese community of Shanghai celebrated the wedding of the Prince Regent to Princess Negako Kuni była ceremony at the Japanese School, North Szechuea Road. School children, the Japanese Company, S. V. C. and a squad of sailors from the cruiser Ataka occupied special positions in the platform from which congratulatory addresses were delivered by leading members of the community. Our picture was taken during the ceremony.
