the American Automobile as- sociation championship title to the Vataran Eddie Hearne, who displaces Murphy, winner of the title in 1992.

Decision of the championship went to the final race of the san- son, with Hearne in a safe lesi provided be could finish in the money and Murphy not win.. It has always been considered "some stunt" for an automobile to negotiste Duncan Street hill in San Francisco-going up. This has been the scene of many, crucial tests. Duncan Street hill is a fifty per rent. grade and the power to ascend it is possessed by but a few automobiles. As for descending it well it isn't done. But a Buick 1924 model, driven by Charles Howard, Jr. not only demonstrated ample ability to get to the top, of Duncan Street bill, but sufficient braking power to enable it safely to return to the bottom. At all times during the descent, Howard had his car under perfect control, as is demonstrat- ed by the above. The young lady in the picture certainly has great confidence in Buick four-wheel brakes.
