For the sixth consecutive year Buick has been assigned first place at the National Automobile Shows which will be held in the United States during January 1924.

As has been the case in previous years, the choice of positions was made on the basis of the greatest dollar volume of business done by manufacturers during the year at hand. The fact that Buick has been given first place six times in succession is convincing evidence of Buick's leadership, and the leadership of General Motors, in the automotive world.

Buick is now producing over 1000 cars a day-the greatest production in its history.

Yet radio fans have increased- if you consider only the 2,000,000 sets accounted for at the rate] of about a million a year!

The east in the U.S.A. no longer will monopolize the benefits to be derived from broadcasting of im- portant events, athletic and other- wise, says an American report. A plan has been devised by which large broadcasting stations may be linked up by direct line, so that both may broadcast an event at the same time.

At present WJZ in New York and WGY in Schnectady are joined by a land wire of 170 miles in length. The first test of this combination was made during the Princeton-Harvard game, when both stations sent out the reports of the tussle simultaneously. »

This may be extended out to- ward Chicago and even farther, zo that those who cannot got New York, direct, may derive the benefits of easterners, never- theless,

POPULARITY OF RADIO. Despite the daily publication of radio broadcasting programmes and the numerous periodicals on the subject, there are some who wonder whether radio still is és popular as ever. Is it! Well think of at least 2,000,000 radio receiving sets in use in America -one for every 10 families. Then remember that the popular usa of radio is only about two years old, and you may get only a faint idea of the popularity of radio.

One million receiving sets, sold annually is quite a large numbar, especially for an industry that is only an infant and is still to reach perfection

Compare this with the other popular musical entertainer the phonograph. There are 12,000,000
