Tea

You can preserve sar- dines in oil, or walnuts in vinegar, but the only way to preserve tea is in

a vacuum.

Brooke Bond tea is vacuum-packed. It is

the only tea that has this protection from the heat and damp of the tropics.

Therefore Brooke Bond tea is always fresh and good.

You don't have to pay extra for the vacuum tin., Breake Bond costs no more than ordmary tea, but tastes a great deal better,

JACK CORNWELL FUNDS.

T

Used for Aid of Relatives.

There has been of late some comment on the restricted means of surviving members of the family of Jack Cornwell. V. C. Questions have been asked about the fund-raised in the name nf the boy hero of the war. The secretary of the Star and Gartér Home for Disabled Sailors and Soldiers writes in reply on behalf of the Governors. He points out that the sum of £22,000 was raised ia Cornwell's name to endow

rooms at the Star and Garter. From this the Navy League set aside a sum to provide a small pension for the mother of Jack Cornwell; the capital to revert to. the institution on her death. which occurred in 1919. "The Louly two members of the family who were considered to be in need of help," he states, "were Jack Cornwell's brother, and sister George and Lily... both of whom jare ander age, and they have been assisted ever since Novem- ber, 1919, the date of their mother's death, to the extent of about £60 per annum, which has been paid at the rate of £5 ú month by the Navy League. " Moreover, neither of these young people has been wholly dependent on this allowance, for they have both, by their own praiseworthy efforts, succeeded in obtaining work."

It is explaised that the sister, Lily Cornwell, bas been living with her half-sister, to whose husband has gone Canada to seek work. The sister sailed with them. and the expenses of the journey were largely

mer by 'the grant from the Nay League. the balance becoming due in June, 1024, being paid in advance. The British Red Cross Society, by whom the Star and Garter was established, asked its representa-. tive in Quebec to meet Lily Cornwell on arrival, and to assist her end her relatives' in finding work in their new home.

A CHAINED INTERRUPTER. Mr. Close, the Canadian, who, has often noisily aired his griey- ances before the Royal Commis- sion on Awards, created a scene In the Court of Appeal recently.. From a seat in the public gallery he protested against Mr. Justice Sargant being promoted to this court," in consequence of his lord- ship having been on the Com mission. Mr. Close, who was very voluble, asked to be committed for eontempt of court, and then announced that he was chained to his sent. Officials quickly un- chained him and led him out of: court:
