HIGHER PAY FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS.
The Government has received a check at the hands of the Cham ber, which by 351 votes to 200 referred a Bill for increase of payment to public servants owing to the higher cost of living to a Committee for further consideration. The Government had proposed that the increase be 263 millions francs whereas the Socialists demanded 1,160 millings-Reuter.
