Maurice Ravel. the mos? famous of living French com posers, recently conducted Rave, festival concert at Queen's Hail, at which some of his most popular works were hoard.
About Maurice Ravel there is nothing of the postur. His slim. dapper figure, keen intellectual features and humorous smile seem a counterpoint of the elegance and wit of his music. Anything less like the conventional long-haired composer could not be imagined A Donly Chronicle represent ative asked M. Ravel for his im- pressions of England. "London," he said, "is too much of the big city to be individual in its musi- cal note. All big cities in this aspect are so much alike.

Asked if he had written any. thing new lately, M. Ravel, with the Frenchman's characteristic -brug and uplifted eyebrows, said: No. Not for two years! I got tired of hearning my own music But I am coming back.
"My next new work may pro- bably be an operatic fantasy. Something very far from the track of the opera houses. Un. onventional. Jazz a little in The Blues style so as to be right nodein shall I say!
