A feature of the election was the early polling by women, who mostly seemed very keen to vote. There was heavy polling in the northern industrial constituencies, but it was generally marked by an absence of excitement.
Mr. Baldwin and other leaders of the pa..ies had enthusiastic ovations in their respective constituencies.
Several tragedies are recorded. Besides the death of a woman at Brighton after voting, an old man at Durham en route to the poll slipped on the ire, fell on his head and died in fifteen minutes.
The contests at Glasgow were very lively. The Countess of Warwick, exhausted by her efforts as Labour candidate for War- wick, remained abed most of the day.
