Columbus, Georgia, Oct. 3. Young Stribling has been awarded the light heavy-weight boxing championship of the world against Mike McTigue, who fought despite in injury to his left thumb.

Owing to the ugly attitide of the public the referte, Harry Ertle, who adjudicated the Dempsey-Carpentier fight, at first de- clared the match a draw at the end of the stipulated ten rounds. but changed the decision in consequence of the spectators' hostile demonstration. He was subsequently escorted by the police his hotel.

Stribling is an eighteen year old High School boy trained by his father and mother.

Ertle later declared that he never indicated a draw but took twelve pressmen's opinions, all of whom favoured Stribling. Columbus, Oct.

McTigue. interviewed, asserted that he was forced to enter the fight at the point of the pistols of his manager, who declared to the spectators that he had threatened to hang him if the 5ght was called off.

Later.

Three hours later the fight was officially declared a draw, the referee saying he gave Stribling the decision under the specta tors' intermidastion.

LORD CURZON'S STATEMENT.

London, Oct. 5

It is anderstood that the portions of Lord Curzon's statement at the Imperial Conference that are to be published particularly refer to the German situation and the British altitude is regard to the Ruhr. It is believed that the question of territorial waters mit which has bein discussing between Britain and the United States will also be submitted to the conference in order to enable the Dominion Premiers to express their views before any definite decision is reached. Persons well informed do not entirely rule out the possibility of the British Government agreeing to Secretary Hughes' proposal for the establishment of a twelve mile limit.

NETHERLANDS BANK SUSPENDS.

London, Oct. 5.

From the Hague it is announced that the savings bank established by the Government three years ago with pestal and "Giro" service, the latter similar to the British clearing system, has been sus- peaded. Great consternation has been caused at the news 25 552,000,000 have been deposited by 120,000 people, many whom placed all their cash there, but it is officially stated that the government guarantees the full amount due to the public, and that there will only be a temporary embargo on the credit balacces order to rectify thousands of errors in the accounts, after which the "Giro" will resume operation. In the meanwhile account holders requiring cash will receive advances from private banks on cer- tificates of "Giro" in regard to their credit balances.

GERMAN PAPER SUSPENDED.

Herr Vockabr has banned Hitler's organ Vosikischef Beobachler in consequence of an inflammatory proclamation headed "artillery men stand to your guns.” The Reich, ordered the suspension several days ago but hitherto the order had been ignored..

It has been officially disclosed that Colonel George Harvey will retire from the Ambassadorship to Loudon about the Ist January. Ambassador Child of Rome will not return to Italy. Both resignations are wholly personal.
