THE ITALO-GREEK DISPUTE.

A stormy interlude occurred while the Allied Mission was' }D-- Testigating the Janina murders at the Albanian frontier post of Kakaria. The Italian delegate endeavoured to pass a party of armed carabinieri into Greek territory for the purpose of maintaining a couriar service between Janina and Italy and also to safeguard pers sonal security, but the Greeks protested against the proposal ́an an- other invasion of their sovereignty. A menacing situation developed and lasted for an hour, when the Japanese Chairman's intervention resulted in the soldiers being ordered to return to Valona.

Rome, Sept. 22

The obsequies for the victims of the Janina massacre were of a most imposing description. A number of Royalties, Signer Mussolini, members of the Cabinet and of Parliament, were among the assem-. blage which awaited the arrival of the remains at the station, where they were placed on gun carriages at the head of a great pro- cession to the Church of the Holy Apostles. There were enormous crowds in the streets, and business houses were closed as the cortege, petted with flowers from housetops, balconies, and aeroplanes, pre- ceeded along via the Nazionale. Diplomatic representatives were present at the Church service celebrated by the Court Chaplain. The bodies of the victims were subsequently conveyed by train each to its native place.

New York. Sept. 22. "The publishers and Pres-men'. L'oins have signed a contract eliminating the strikers. The contrict gives pressmen an increase of three dollars weekly, a forty-five hour week for dayworkers and forty-one for nightworkers.

Following the refusal if most of the strikers to resume under the auspices of the International Prezimen's Union, "the President therest has appealed to all members of seal unions in the country to come to New York forthwith and man the presses. All expenses will be refunded and lost time compensated.
