CLUB.
The Annual Meeting. The Vice President (Mr. R. E. Lindsulla presided at the annual meeting of the Kowloon Cricket | Clubs Cheld in, the Club house last evening. He was supported by the Hon. Secretary (Mr. P. Heathcote) | and the Hon. Treasurer (Mr. H. E. [Stevens).
Proposing the adoption of the report and accounts, the Chairman said the net profit on the working) account for the eleven months of the Club year-at the last meeting the Club decided "to,, close the year? at the end of July instead of Augustas previously---amounted to just over $4,000. as compared with $5,125 for the twelve months pre- feeding. Taking one month's pre- fits as averaging about $370. G11 the twelve months working, they would thus have made about $800 less than they did last year." This ; decrease, however, was almost entirely accounted for, firstly by the drastic way, in which they had written down the value of their| pavilion and furniture--it which, in view of the likelihood of the Club having before many years to move to new quarles, he trust- jed the mecting wouki consider wise--and - secondly, by the in- |crease in thef' wages' bill,, which was partly a sign, of the times and partly due to their new policy, of runing the bar.

The Secretary put forward some sug- gestione mit & subrial Bar Con [mittee, was appoilted with. Mr. | Hervideo 'an caverer., Ms. Her Frike, and the Sub-Committed en- tirely revolutionised the way the Gar was run. They engaged a bar maungee at a high wage and hadi certainly kept # tight hoigh in all, ļissues from stare. The result hal [been" entirely satisfactory, for, al though their wages bill bad been inemised, the profits had risen from $3,25 last year to $4,765] |fits' year. "Thai was an increase] of about $1,500 on eleven month's working only, add a jurap fe:in 201 Laer rent, to somewhere about
per cem. He thought that the Fefforts of the Bar Committee were worthy of special commendation (Applause).
Proceeding the Chairman "said the question arole, as to reducing; the| price of drinks (Hear hear). He thought that all the members would agree that the Club ought not really to be a money-making concern. They had now 43 cash balance, of something over $25,000| and he thought that that entitied. them to adopt a somewhat more liberal policy. On that head he would welcome proposals, later,
There were, Mr. Lindsell said, seviral directions in which increased, expenditure must benefit the Club, and the eutsing down of their har profits by lowering the prices of drinks would still leave them with a profit on their working account at the end of the "year. It might in- terest menthers to know that in 150% 9 their reserve was only 81,500 and, "their" profits #1,000, whilst for the year before, the profits were only 887. The membership then was duly 193: it was now 440 Incidentally of the 13. there were only 27 still on the books. The Chairman added that ths Club had had quite a successful year both financially and in the world of sport.
