Afloat in Shallow Water. We are informed by the naval authorities that the after com- partments of submarine "1. 9" were pumped out yesterday, and on blowing some of the after tanks she floated and has been placed in shallow water off Murray Pier, where she will remain, for several days.

It is not convenient to, the naval authorities to dock her at present, and minor repairs willi be carried out where she is, in] order to ensure that she will re- main afloat without constant at-j tention.
