The transmission of several gramophone pieces on Brunswick records was most successfully performed from the Hongkong Hotel roof garden, and received in our offices and reproduced through a loud-sponker, After- waris, in order to demonstrala the speaking voice, Mr. W. J. Hawkor read an extract from yesterday's Telegraph, and this WILS also heard quite well. The transmission ༥་༣༥ aper- ated by Mr. W. E. Orchard by means

100-watt of a set, and was received on a British two-value Gecaphone, with Mag-| navox amplifier, which was in. charge of Mr. Ludvig Syberg, of the National Radio Administra-! tion. All present voted the de-! monstration-a-distinct success, despite the fact that our offices! are rather nearer the Hongkong Hotel than is ideal for reproduc- tion. Similar experiments car- ried out between the Hotel and Repulse Bay have proved most satisfactory, and a ship 120 miles out at sea received the broadcast- ed misic from the Hotel roof garden very clearly.

Mr. Syberg, who installed the Hotel's broadcasting equipment, is leaving to-day for Shanghai. He has certainly succeeded in proving the pleasure that list- enors-in in Hongkong will derive 50 soon as broadcasting becomes established thing in the
