A special commissioner of the the Kelantan Railway and thus Malay Mail has been inspecting

reports on the stupendous bridge being erected:"

"On the following morning the Divisional Enginoer was good anough to take me in his inspect ion carriage from Tanah Marah to the railhead, a distance rough. ly of about 34 miles. Three miles out of Tanah Morab we came to the Kelantan Bridge, of which we have heard so much, but which few people beside the railway officials and his Exosilency the High Commissioner have so lar asen. It is was undoubtedly the biggest job that the railway have undertaken in this country. In the railway through Kelantan tho biggest problem has been that of crossing the river. "To get into the heart of the country it had to be crossed at some point or an other in its course of 150 miles The railway engineers who traced the line and pegged it out did not at the first consider the present point. They went elsewhere but the trace had to be altered, I be lieve, soveral times, before, the 10 mia present crossing was decided up.. 15 min on. After the most exhaustive ob servations had been taken it was Found necessary to bridge it with ton spans, aggregating two thou- sand feet in all, Five of these spane extending to the present water's edge from the castora bank, are of 100 feet each, and the other five which cross the river are of 250 each. The smaller spans have already been complet- ed, and of the big spans two are finished, the third is nearing completion, and the fourth is in hånd. Four wells in the fifth span have been sunk and the fifth is now being completed."
