THE DEMAND FOR MOTORS.
Record Output in America.
Mr. Charles Clifton, President of the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce, writes from New York as follows:-
Two million cars and trucks were made in American factories in the first six months of this year. This is more than the output for the entire year of 1921, in fact of ary.year except 1970 and 1928, It is a production figure 850,000 greater than the same period last yoar.
#l
The significance of these facts, however, is not inherently in their size. It is true that large salės of motor vehicles bring about cor- responding demands for cotton, rubber, aluminum, copper, feather, plate glass, iron and steel, orent ing prosperity in those industries, giving employment. But the in- fluence is more far reaching than that. It means that we are build- ing up a new form of transporta tion.
