The steamer Eropreas of Russis parsed through the last typhoon just north of the island of Formosa at three o'clock on Saturday morn- 10g. At that time the lowest reading of the barometer 27.00. The trip was a very stormy one, but the ship bore up through it in really fine style. Immense waves beat over her bows and from time to time stuck her amidships. One such towering wave carried away one of her lifeboats. The Eropress of Russia arrived in Woosung one day late as a con- sequence of this bad weather.

Shanghai, Aug. 11.

A typhoon of cyclonic proportions is nearing Shanghai and delaying shipping. The President Jefferson of the Admiral Line went around for two hours this morning in the Yang- taze mouth on the Tungsha Spit, but was refonted and arrived wo- damaged.
