The Japanese Government is spending nearly a quaiter of & million yenin sending emigrants to Brazil, and in order to get suffi- cient, there is to be an intensive propaganda throughout the coun- try. It is extraordinary that ata time when there is such an out- ery about the doors being every- where closed, a promising country, emigrants to which are said to do very woll indeed, has so little at- traction that it takes a nation- wide propaganda to get a few hundard emigrants to go thero. Of course, Brazil is about as far away from Japan as any country on the globe, but considering the prospecta and the alleged need, one would have supposed that there would be more readiness to emigrate there.-Japan Chronicle.
