No demonstrations were held in the Ruhr or in the view of the Shipping Con Rhineland. ference that reduced rates would not be granted for exhibits uten ed for sale at the Exhibition but! only for those sent solely for purpose of display. The de- cipton had been communicated tu Singapore. Until a reply had been received im the London Conference responsible for the shipping arrangement it was impossible to say if the deci sion of the Shipping Conference, applied to Hongkong as well.

An

A telegtam had been received from England urging the Chinese to ex. pedite matters. Mr. Kotewall said the Guvern ment had replied to the Chamber's request that an effort he made to secure exemption from taxes for exhibits sent from Canton that. nothing could be done in the mat-" fer. The Joint Committee felt that the Chinese Chamber should write to the Canton Govern. ment. Mr. Katewall concluded that he could not accept the ap pointment an associate commission and suggested that Mr. Chow Shou sen be nominated.

Proposed by Mr. "Kotewall and seconded by the Chairman, Sir Robert Ho Tung and Mr. Chom Shou-sen were nominated associate commissioners.

The Chairman endorsed the ro marks of Mr. Kotéwall, about the restaurant scheme which had re- ceived but meagre support. As to exemption from taxes of exhibite from Canton the Chairman said the Chamber would write to the Civil Governor of Canton, the Com. missioner of Customs and also tho Canton Chinese Chamber ut. Com- zerce.

Some discussion arose as to the possible effect on the enthusiasm of the Chinese if the decision of the Shipping Conference refüsing re- duced freight rates applied to Hong. kong. It was stated that the extent of the support depended in large measure on the freight con- version. It was decided to deter further discussion, until a fature date.

Mr. J. M. Wong asked if the Chamber would assume responsibi- lity for the care treatment of the 100, men and 25 women to be seat to the Exhibition should they fall sick whilst in England. In view of the language difficulty some incon- venience might be felt by Chinese from Hongkong in securing treat- ment when sick. Mr. Wong said his brother Dr. Wong Cheong lam, waf willing to accompany the Hongkong contingent us madi- cal officer provided his passage to and from Eagland was defrayed by the Chamber, Dr. Wong's un- dertaking did not, however, include: the provisina ní medicine.

Mr. Ipan-chuen considered Dr.. Wong's condition perfectly re- asonable. Mr. IpeAid that many applications for particip etion in the Exhibition had been received, but owing to the limited number of buildinge the Chamber had not mude any particular allat·| ment. About 20 buildings would bo eufficient to meet the requisi-i tions up to the present. The Cham her displayed the same attitude in respect of enquiries as to how many

It is now definitely known that in nature malaria is transamtted only by the bite of the Anopheles mosquito'

And despite the fact we have assured measures of prevention, malaria counts its victims by the hundreds of thousands annu lly.

Remedies against the multiplication of mosquitoes consist in draining their breeding pools and treating these pools with "Flyosan" A few sprays from the Flyosan sprayer in the bed room before retiring will kill every mosquito present and prevent the apearance of others.
