It confers complete freedom on Turkey, the leading statesmen of which now wish to be on good terms with Britain and France. He is sure they will eagerly welcome the renewal of trade. Turkey is on the threshold of a new era. He urges Moslems to help the new State, which will assuredly become the brightest star in Islam.

The monthly statement issued by the Federal Reserve Board re- ports that production of basic commodities declined during June but employment did not decreïne except in some New England manu- facturies.
