H.M. King George had half an hour's conversation with Premier Mussolini. It is announced that Their Italian Majesties and the Crown Prince will pay a return visit to London in September.

The Royal train was escorted two hundred miles from Apezia to Rome by four dirigibles and two squadrons of aeroplanes. Tha Stare entry was unequalled by any previous occasion. The station at Rome, where the traffic was stopped for hours, was converted into a flower garden, flanked by crimson hangings and carpets. The whole capital made "holiday. All the. Fascisti were mobilised and the garrison reinforced. Exceptional police measures were enforced to prevent confusion in the solidly crowded streets between tha station and the Quirinal, where a banquet was given amid an unpre- cedented scene of splendour.

TURKISH PROVOCATION.

Athens, May 8,

The latest doings of the Turks, like the closing of the Constan- tinople branch of the Bank of Athens, threatened confiscation of property deposited in Constantinople banks by departing Greeks, and violation of the armistice by constant concentration of forces in Thrace, where the troops have even occupied an islet at the mouth of the Maritza River, have further strained Greco-Turkish relations, The provocative attitude, of Turkey has been the subject of repeated conferences between the Premier, Ministers of War and Marine, the Commander-in-Chief and the leader of the revolution. Foreign Minister Alexandris is going to Lausanne to-morrow, it being obvious to everybody that the present uncertainty cannot continue indefinitely. Greece is keen for peace but, with an army like that which she disposes to-day, she is not likely to stand Turkish provocations much lenger.

According to what the Daily Chronicle describes 23 а most reliable authority, the Cabinet point to approving a strongly backed scheme for a super express mail and passenger service, ten thousand miles across the Empire, by rígid airships, of a perfected type. larger than any hitherto built. Experts have emphatically approved from the widest viewpoint of Empire defence. It is understood that the report of the Committee on Imperial defence now being sub- mitted to the Cabinet, is so favourable that general Government approval of the plan and State co-operation are regarded almost as A foregone conclusion. Figures have been prepared showing that the airships could swiftly carry hundreds of troops to vital points. Experts have also been investigating the question of an aeroplane- carrying airship.
