The ships are under the COED mand of Rear-Admiral Gilly, an experienced French naval officer wbo saw much service at ses during the World War. The French Admiralty has instruct- ed Admiral Gilly to study, in the various countries visited | the possibilition of intressing the ttrade between France, ber co onies and foreign countries, the help that may be found for French trade and industries in these lands and the governarents of the dominions allied toʻFrance. The two cruisers-left France about the middle of last October and have come to Japan by wAY of Fort Said, Djibouti, Madagas car, Reunion Island, Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonis.
