KING'S BOXING,
A Night's Good Sport,
The King's Regt. boxing tourna ment was continued at Murray Barracks last night, when another fine exhibition of the noble art was witnessed. The programme was an interesting one, including, in addition to the novices' bouts, a number of open contests, and a special tea-round fight between C. P. O. Callaghan, of HMS, Ambrose, and Sergt. Tribe, of the R.G.A.
Weather permitting, the turna- ment will be continued to-night, and to-morrow night the finals will take place. Judging by the preliminary bouts, the semi-finals and finals should be interesting. On Wednesday there is to be a special contest between Stoker P. 0. Morgan and Pte. Flynn, and it is understood that H. E. the G.vernor, H. E. the Admiral and H. E. the General Officer Com- manding have signified their in- tention to be present.
Featherweights First Series.
Cpl. Armstrong knocked out Pte. Stukes in the third round.
Pte, Langley faced Pte. Hughes. Hughes went down in the first round, but the ging saved him. In the second Langley sent him to the boards for the full, count.
Pte. Radcliffe and Pte. Webster sailed into one another in lively" style. Punishment was given and taken with 2 will. Radcliffe showed his superiority in the second round. sending his man down time and again. Webster pluckily kep: getting to his feet to continue, but he was all in, and Radcliffe had no difficulty in administering the knock out blow.
Pte. Collier beat Pte. Hayter in a three-round contest on points.
Bantamweights.
Pte. Sumner was too good a man for Pte. McCabe. McCabe show- ed himself a plucky boxer and fought back gamely, but the re- feree's action in stopping the fight and giving the decision to Sumner in the third round was not un- expected.
'
- Pte. Stewart, proved his super- iority in a few seconds against Pte. Cowell. Cowell realised that be had met his match and threw his hand in in the first round.
Middleweights.
Pte. Drennan was awarded the decision on points in a three-round contest with Pte. Wilson.
Pte. Gardiner sent Pte. Gardiner to the boards once in the first round and once again in the second, after which Gardiner re- tired.
Featherweights (Second Series).
Lance Cpl. Lament, who met Pte. Kinsella, retired in the second round..
Pte. Bird knocked out Cpl. Holmes in the first round.
Pte. Crompton had had all be wanted from Pte. Morris early on it the second found and retired from the fight.
