THE LONDON RAID.
London, March 12. Scotland Yard is delighted with the success of the biggest coup in the history of a long fight. It is declared that few eluded the nat. The dramatic swiftness of the swoop is shown by the fact that several were arrested in their beds. One was apprehended at a West End club and carried off without attracting attention, and a dozen London Dajlite quotas. The Septuagenarian suburbs provided their O'Mahoney was taken at Clapham. He greeted the cfficers with "Welcome boys!" and accompanied the janitors happily. The London arrests include twelve women.

FRENCH REPRISALS.
Berlin. March 12
A message from Buer says the French are taking severe reprisals for the murder of two Frenchmen. Besides the Mayor, the Manager of the Savings Bank and the Chairman of the Merchants' Associa tion were taken from their beds last night and arrested. In conse- quence of the order forbidding anyone to be on the streets between seven o'clock in the evening and six in the morning neither evening cor morning shifts are able to go to the mines. Newspapers are not allowed to appear and the French have compelled persons leaving Church to stick up placards on the walls, announcing the measurest taken by the French. Most of the placards were torn down later. whereupon the French arrested a number of Germans and ordered them to guard the placards under penalty of shorting.
The French have occupied the Westerholt mine.
ACUTE KENYA SITUATION.
London, March 12. The political situation at Kenya is acuta, consequent on the refusal of the settlers to accept Colonial Office suggestions for the settlement of the Indian question. It was recently announced that Governor Sir R." "1. Cáry náðu and also a distention of Europen seder are proceeding to London in order to lay their views before the Government, and it is now int mated that a mass meeting of Indians at Nairobi has also decided to send a delegation to England for the same object, whilst a telegram from Delhi' reports that the non- Official Indian members of the Legislature are anxious to press the claims of the Kenya Indians by despatching a delegation to London in May, when the Kenya deputations are expected to be in London. Latest advices from Kenya show that the Indians have
now decided to press for complete equality of status. The Dolly News dwells on the potential dangers of the Kenya controversy which, it opines, is likely to become the very touchstone of the Em-
