Inquiry Into Death of

Mr. Hancox.

At the Magistracy yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. B. Wood, in his capacity as Coroner conducted an enquiry into the death of Mowbray Arthur Hancar, a Ravenus Officer who was found dead in the bath- roon of 3a Armand Buildings, Aowloon, on the morning of the 15th February

On the morning of the 15th February Mr. Hancox went into his bathroom. Some little time later the houseboy called him for breakfast, Knocking at the bath- room door, be received no reply and sought the assistance of neighbours. Later he smashed the bathroom door in and found Mr. Hancox lying dead on the fluor, baving apparently been poisoned by gas produced by a geyser that had been in use when decessed bad bis bath.

Giring a briel resume of the eircumstances, the Coroner yester das stated that the enquiry wa3 held to show that cortais investi- gations had been made by the police and experiments conducted in con. nection with the unfortunate death, with which the jury would be acquainted. He did not anticipate that the evidence would reveal any foul play in connection with the tragedy, nor would it show that Mr. Hancox tock bis own life.
