Dividend of 15 Per Cent.

On the 10th. instant, the dir- ectors of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha announced a dividend for this half-year at the rate of 15 per cent. per annum.

During the term, the profits obtained from the ocean-going lines snowed a decresss as com- pared with the pravicus term, but the coast-aise lines were fairly successful and were able to show profits, amounting to Y1,300,000 approximately. Supposing that the sum of Y2,000,000 from the reserves for the equalization of dividends is used, as for the pre- vicus term, the distribution of a 15 per cent. dividend will not be a difficult matter. The directors, having taken into consideration the inactivity of the shipping business, were all desirous to dis- sribute only 13 per cent., but they consented to make the rate 15 per cent: at the desire of import- sht shareholders-Japan Chron.
