One of the most exciting Inter- port ericket matches we have had for many a long year ended on Saturday afternoon, when Shang- hai, after all seemed last, de- feated Hongkong comfortably, mainly due to the failure by the local side to rise to the occasion in their second innings, and the magnificant batting of Leach for the visitors. His 9 was obtain- ed in fine style, and probably won the match for his team.
After the Hongkong captain, Hancock, had been dismissed for a "duck" just at noon, Webster went in to partoer Pearce. Hongkong's total was then 28 for
the loss of four wickets.
Divscha joined Ollerdessen, and runs began to come more freely after a time, but the first-namoj seat a return off Reed to Hancock which the latter brilliantly caught almost on the ground. Two wickets for. 20.

Some Comments.- The Interport encket match which concluded on Saturday was remarkable for the comparatively tow storing in all the innings excepiShangbai's second venture. It would appear that had Shang- hai not collapsed so inexplicably intheir first innings, the local side would have suffered a far more severe defeat, for Hongkong's totals of 140 and 141 may be taken as a fair average of what the side would ever be able to do against good bowlers and fielders, both of were possessed by the visiting team.
