The Duke's contention was ho could cover the 545 miles by road in a car in the same time, but before the start it was agreed that another three hours should be allowed, in view of the wat condition of the roads.
The Duke's zouta was by the Great North-road to Edinburgh, A friend with whom the duke and from there by the coast road made the wager left London by † to Aberdeen.
