How grave have been the disorders in Italy is revealed by de tailed stories showing how hundreds of Labour Exchanges and Communist Clubs have been destroyed by the Fascisti, Some fifty parsons have been killed, hundreds injured and thousands arrested. Practically all the Socialist Municipal Administrations have resigo- ed.
Many of the worker's organisations have deserted the Socialist Confederation and joined the Fascisti. The Reparations Commission resolved on August 3 by three votes to one to adjourn its decision until after the London Con- ference. This was on the British motion recommending the sus- pension of all German payments on account of clearing house obliga- tions, on condition that a monthly payment of £500,000 offered by Germany be made to the Commission, likewise agreeing, if foregoing recommendation be accepted, to suspend the Balance of cash Repara- tion payments due in 1932 without imposing fresh conditions, but suggestion the most rigorous conditions necessary for against any postponement of the 1923 24 payments.
