Independence Mission Con- ⚫sidering President's Reply.
Washington, June
23.--The
Philippine Independence missing is awaiting instruction from the gislature, sitting as the inde- pandance commission, in Manila. Meanwhile they are studying President Harding's reply.
The mission leaders see in the President's statement a forecast of the possible extension of auto- nomy to-the-Philippines. It is understood that there is a ques- Įtion ́ regarding the mission's powers with respet to petitioning Congress.
The members of the mission plan to leave Washington July 1 to be guests of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in New [York, where they will spend sev-
eral days.
REPLY SENT TO GOVERNOR- GENERAL
Washington, Jane 22.—Presid. ent Harding's reply to the Filipino Independence Mission has been sent in full by U. S. Naval Radio to Governor-General Wood. In bis statement to the mission, the president, while observing that he
not get prepared to urge on Congress the desirability of Philippine independence, inti- mated that he was not unalter- jably opposed to autonomy, and| that the question of the future status of the islands was one which the progress of the Filipi- nos alone could decide.

Explaining The Einstein Theory.
Heoce Einstein predicted the beading of light near the sun, and) this was actually observed in the eclipse of May 1919. A third segumant in favour of Einstein'; theory is that it explains a slighti displacement of the planet Mercury's
orbit, which had pazzted astronomers.
