The steamer Chu-San, built by the Shanghai Dock and Engineer- ing Co., Ltd. to the order of the Cho-San Steamship Co., Ltd. was launched at the Pootung Shipyard on the 11th inst. Mias C. Y. The Chro-san has head designed as a passenger and cargo steamer for service between Shanghai and Chu-san. She is atred with special ports and cargo facilities for the rapid loading

and discharging of" cargo, and ber passenger. accommodation is large and well Snished. She measures 205 ft. by 33 ft. and 20 fs, moulded depth to awning deck and carries 810 tons deadweight cargo. The Chinese accommodation is on the awning deck and comprises a large first- class saldon and state-rooms for eight first-class and 40 second- class passengers forward, and a large second-class saloon and state-rooms for 28 second-class- passengers aft. The engineers. and compradore staff are placed amidships and the petty officers- and crew in the forecastle. On the deck above the awningdeck there is first-class accommodation cont sisting of a large saloon forward and state-rooms for 12 pass INGUTE, while the Captain and officers are placed forward of this. The ́ ́ machinery comprises one set of triple expansion surface condens- ing engines with the usual - auxiliaries, steam being generated in two cylindrical multitubolar" boilers.
