London, June 3. A French seroplane from Croydon to Paris nose dived into the Channel near Folkestone this morning and struck the water with terrific force. The pilot. Morin, and passengers, Ley and Carroll, were killed. The mutilated bodies of Morin and Ley were recovered.

The Whitsun holidaymakers at Folkestone were horrified at the sight of the disaster to the Spad aeroplane, which was wrecked close to the land. The machine nose dived from 2,000 feet. wireless message from Folkestone led a crowded cross-Channel bast at fuil spoed la the spot. A doctor who was a passenger entered a boat which put on to the scene and was shocked to find that one of the killed was his friend, the brilliant West End obstetric surgeon, Gordon Ley. It is surmised that the accident was due to an explosion in mid-air and that the victims were dead before reaching the se
ANOTHER PACIFIC CONFERENCE IN OCTOBER.
Washington, June 4.
All states bordering on the Pacifc have been invited to a Pas- Pacific Conference on commerce at Honolule in October to discuss a wide range of problems, including communications, transport, the| development and conservation of national resources, finance, iprest- ments and international relations throughout the Pacific area. The nations invited total 20 and include several South American states, Japan, China, Siam, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Malay States, North Borneo and the Dutch East Indies. Although the State Department is transmitting the invitations it is emphasised that the Conference must not be considered under the auspices and patronage of the United States.

London. June 3. Laying the foundation stone of the Criccieth War Memorial Hall. Mr. Lloyd George paid a glowing tribute to the British fallen, who would have died vainly if the nations had not acknowledged that right was supreme. A letter written by Mr. Lloyd Giorge was then deposited with the stone, which says: "These young mea died that the dominion of right and reason might be more frmly} established in Government and men."
