A Remarkable German Production.
The long looked - forward to "Einstein Theory" film-or to give the film its more formal title,{
The Basic Principles of the Theory of Relativity," has bean complated, and has been produced at Frankfort-on-Main.
Although the project met with bis immediate approval Professor, Elastein, absorbed in his Univer-i aity and soientific work, has not been concerned in the actual prop- aration of the film. That task has been carried out by his friend Frofessor Nicolai (the ex-Kaiser's physician whose aeraplane es- cape to Holland constituted ane of the intensa personal dramas of the war), assisted by a group of young German men of science, followers of Einstein.
19% bare worked on the film steadily for the past year and a half" remarked Professor Nicolai. "Of course, I would never have thought of attempting to make a film out of this complicated..sub- ject had not public interest in Relativity been so intense, and, mers important still, bad not many misconceptions and mis- takes occurred through the at- tempt of unqualified hands to re- move the veil which in a sense) separates the secrets of science from the comprehension of the averaga mAD."
From the exclusively cinemato- graph point of view, the Rela- tivity film " represents a very. striking advance, in that for the first time a series of extremely intricate prablems and subtle 转宜。 scientific conceptions are
means of Mcraen plained by pictures 10 clearly and logically as to enable even the uneducated to get a general grasp of the subject treated
The film is over 2,000 metres (6,500 feet) long, and comprises 75,000 different photographs. The grostest accuracy was demanded, aliks of the men of science whose duty it was to manipulate, the models used to illustrate the Relativitats theory, and of the On cinematograph operators. several occasione a movement too rapid by a fraction of a sec-| tion necessitated the retaking of hundreds of photographs.
There are three sections. The] first aims at giving the audience a general conception of relativity, based on everyday incidents of deals occurrences; the second pictorially with the problems of
