PORT FACILITIES OF SEATTLE.
Absorption of all freight bandl- ing and wharfage charges on through shipments over Beattle docks by the water and zail carriers has resulted in grezily stimulating the movement of cargo lately. In addition to the exceptional facilities afforded
by shippers
the moderni mechanical devices employed on Seattle docks, and the advantagg in being several days closer to the Orient, the fact that no charges, other than the regular freight rates, are added to con- signments has resulted in visibly increasing the cargo movement. The length of time in which goods may be held in storage has also been increased from ten days to one year, this ruling applying to freight consigned on through bills of lading for trans-shipment in Beattle.
