EARLIER TELEGRAMS.
ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
London, March 17, Three were killed and several wounded in three hours' bombing from houses and fusillading in the streets of the Catholic quarter în Belfast this morning.
St. Patrick's Day was a great public holiday in Ireland and passed off quietly. The chief spectacle in Dublin was the trooping f the colours by the Irish Republican;Army. Formerly this was performed by Eritish troops. With such evidence of the Irish Army secoming an institution the question of its control has been raised in a manner cdenlated to sharpen the differences for and against the Treaty of sections of the pipulation. President Griffiths has prohibited the forthcoming convention of delegates of the LRA Speakers at a Republican demonstration in Dublin yesterday declared that the Convention will be held despite the prohibition and explained that the purpose of the Convention is to establish "an executive of the army." This is regarded by the Government as an attempt to establish a Military Government, not owing allegiance to Nail Errmann in which the Government insists unconditionally.
EGYPTIAN INDEPENDENCE.
Caire, March 13. When the King was returning from reviewing the Egyptiar troops it is reported that students held a hostile demonstration in the vicinity of the Palace. Shots were fired by the pilice or soldiers, wounding three demonstrators.
King George has telegraphed congratulations to King Fuad. He earnestly hoped that Egypt would long continue to enjoy the fruits af independence under King Fuad's rale. King Fuad replied that he was firmly convinced, the new era would see consolidation of
friendly relations and the perfect entente which had always been his heart's desire to see established between Britain and Egypt I Cordial messages were also exchanged between Lord Curzon and
Sarwat Pasha,
