STRIKERS ENDEAVOUR TO OCCUPY JOHANNESBURG.
Detachment of Transvaal Scottish Ambushed.

Fighting is occurring over a fairly wide area.
Strikers have burned the Fordsburg Police Station, and the police at present ars merely holding key positions.
Meanwhile the concentration of Government forces is proceed ing most rapidly and burgher forces are shortly arriving. Artillery are taking up their positions. Aeroplanes are active and have bombed the strikers positions at Fordsburg.
It is estimated that today's casualties are over a hundred killed and many wounded.

The casualties in yesterday's nighting are now estimated at 600, of which 80 were killed. The bulk of the strikers' casualties is not
