PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE Do the Puget Sound 'Shipping Conference, Portland Conference, San Francisco Conference, etc.. all of which have fallen to the ground, the majority of the for- mer members who desire to re- habilitate their respective Can- ferencesar being met by, no smelt difficulties in reaching their goal Having come to a decision with one voice to combine thesǝ Con- ference into a single body, neir respective representatives recent- ty met at Seattle and exchanged views on the firing of freight. the regulation of the forcer Con- ferences, etc. But the meeting frame to nothing, says the Tokyot "Asahi, because the Blue Bung Line, who cut a conspicnone figure in the former Conference and two or three other companie. were not represented thereat. According to the same paper, the Blue Fannel Lina assumes a very dogmatic attitude and hse, des clared its intention to decids for itself upon the practicability of participating in the sapciated Conference according to the terms and conditions to be offered to it, though, it is not disposed favourably toward the completion of that Conference. But the radical reason for the recon=" struction of the Cosferance Badg lieult is that the rebate systém whereby alone & Conference can control shippers and make them lance to its tune is not a part of che scheme.
