Tha sugar market has continued to rule quiet. Arrivals are still Hight, weather bazing been 'un- favourable for grinding operations for Nos. 1 to 5 grades. Due to the decline in prices, our copra market has ruled quiet through-- out the fortnight with very little buying going on. The coal mar- ket is without any appreciable change. Local prices havə de- clined alighaly. Arrivals from Jan. 1st to 15th. were 5,220 tons from Japan and 2,970 tons from Chingwaniao, all for commer- cial purposes. The rice market bas ruled steady, and prices are without appreciable change. Our flour market continues firm, with no change in prices since our last report.

The Commonwealth's Trade Commissioner at Shanghai sp- noune s: It is expected that early in July the Broken Hill Associat- ed Smelters at Port Pirie will be able to, resume treatment of con- centrates from Broken Hill mines. The constraction of the temporary plant is reported to be progress- ing satisfactorily to that end, and when completed will be able to tres: between 2,000 and 3,000 tors of concentrates per week. The former Dwight Lloyd roasting plant had a capacity of 5,000 tons per week. At present, bowever, only one Broken Hill Company is State, producing concentrates, and they..................
