NEW TYPE OF OIL BURNER

The object aimed at in the design of a fuel oil burner brought out by the Todd Shipraids Corporation, of New York, is to obtain sufficient atomization of the oil, supplied under moderata pressure, with the use of minimumquantity of steam. The oil is spread-over & conical surface in a thin whirling film by the action of steam issuing from tangential holes arranged in the oil-supply orifice, and in line with the taper of the cons. At a point about midway down the cone this whirling film is joined by steam from another sarise of jets which impinge angularly upon it and break up the fuel into minate particles. This breaking up is further augmented by carrying the whole mass round the outer edge of the core and thera reversing the flow, causing it to dash together from all sides and mix in a small chamber placed directly at the base of the [delivery pipe, through which it passes to the nozzle in a state of fine subdivision. It is stated that a steady mellow dama -is obtained without roaring.
