REMOVAL OF ECONOMIC PENALTIES.

Anglo-French Differences Set Hed.

Landon, September 29.

The raising of the economic sanctions means disappearance of the Eastoma barrier, which for six months has economically divided the occupied districts from the rest of Germany. The difficulties of the removal were explained in cabirs of the 15th and 19th inst.

Anglo-French differences on the subj»ct of the method of check- ing Germany's issue of liosuces in order to prevent discrimination against Allied products was settled a week ago, and Allied and Ost- man experts will now meet to determine how contral of the licences can be carried out by the Inter-Allied Commission.

[The message of the 15th inat stated: On the ground that Germany has not fulfilled her obligations the French Foreign Office announces the continuance of the economic sanctions which the Supreme Council decided should be removed on Sept. 15th, subject to Germany meeting certain obligations.

ני

A Berlin semi-odicial message of the same date declared that Germany has paid a milliard gold marke and also agreed in principle to the creation of an Inter-Allied organisation with the view to pre- venting unfair discrimination regarding import and export licencas. thus meeting the Allive' demands. The whole trouble in due to the competence of this organisation, which France maintains shoul have full authority to dictats to Germany concerning all licences. whoress Reuter learns authoritively that the London view seems to) be that Germany would gain little from raising the scoctions in the evens of the adoption of the French plan. Conyersations are pro- canding in. London, Paris and Citi nz.
