Mr. E W. Wilson, general manager of the Philippine National Bank has issued statement that the bank bas settled its losses arising out of exchange contracts made with Shanghai banks, amounting to $5,538,254 gold.

"Of this amount," he said in a signed statement, "slightly in ex- |cess of 30 per cent has been paid and the balance, as per statement below, is to be paid in nine semi- final installments:
