THE CROWN PRINCE'S VISIT.

Interchange of Messages Between the King and the Mikado.

London, May 16.

The King telegraphed the Emperor of Japan expressing the pleasure of the Queen and himself and his people of the visit of Princo Hirohito, and trusting that it will strengthen the ties of friendship between the two countries.

The Emperor replied on behalf of himself and his people that he was much touched by the true friendship évidenced in the warmth and brilliance of the reception accorded Prince Hirohito everywhere throughout the Empire, culminating in the deeply-stirring and graving kindness of the reception in the capital. The Emperor was particularly pleased at the forethought of the Prince of Wales, who met Prince Hirohito at Portsmouth, and his Majesty was con- vinced that the visit would contribute to drawing the two nations still closer together.
