The Kaifuku-maru of the Kat- suta Kisen Kaisha has, it is reported, been chartered by a foreign firm through the Nishin Shokai in Kobe. It will firet leave for Macao in order to ship nine hundred Chinese coolies for sugar-cultivation and then come back to the port of Kyushu in order to tike in lump coal, from which port it will start to Santiago de Cuba and Mazatland, Mexion, where the Chinese coolies will be landod. It will be returned to the shipowner at Havana, Thủ charter rate is about Y.130,000, the shipowner being responsible for all expenses.

Notice is given that on or about the 15th June 1921 the existing Dotd Island Light will be discon- tinued and the work of installing a new lighting apparatus will be commenced. During the time that these alterations are being made a provisional light will be ex- hibited from the gallery of the Lighthouse.. This provisional light will be of the Sixth Order, and will show a white light occulting every 5 seconds, thus:- Light 1 second; Eclipse 4 seconds, and will be so placed on the gallery that the light will not Bhow to the north-westward of Dodd Island owing to it being obscured by the light-tower. It will be visible in clear weather for a distance of about 10 miles. Marinere Gre
