A remarkable wireless record ras been set up by the new 1kw. quenched spark transmitting apparatus which is being in- troduced by the Marconi Interna- tional Marine Communication. Company as its standard equip- ment for ships at sea, and which has already been installed in a number of vessels. The guarante- ed working range of these sets is between 400 and 600 miles, according to the type of receiver in use, but the wireless operator on the Walmer Castle reports that when off Walfisch Bay, on the way to Cape Town, he was able to read signsis sent out by the Olympic when approaching Southampton and approximately 3,000 miles distant from the Walmer Castle.
