The Annual Sports.
The Juvenile Society held its eighth annual sports meeting for children at the Racocource on Saturday, when there were also present a largo concourse of parents and other interested visitors. The number of com- petitors, as stated by the Chair- man, Mr. Baptista, was one of the largest in the history of the Society, giving proof to the fact that growing being taken in sports for children--a develop- ment with which the activities] Fot the Society Bro closely

At the conclusion of the sports the prizes wore given away by Miss Edith Soares, who sub-e- quently received the thanks of the Society for her performance of this function. The President in a brief speoch, expressod his pleasure in again presiding at the eight annual meet, and he took the occasion thank. the Hon. Secretary, Mr. G. P. da Cruz, and others whose efforts contributed to the success of the afternoon. He referred to the generosity of the priac-donors, and to the servicos of the Portuguese Philharmonic Society's Bund, whose rondering | of a number of pleasing selections
was appreciated by all.
