At the Magistracy yesterday afternoon the hearing was conclud. ed of the case in which Shúm Lai- sang charged with uttering o; forged money deposit receipt for $5,000, asid to have been issued by the Holland Pacific Trading Com- pany, Ltd., with intent to defraud Mr J. H. van Gennep Lubra; und with attempting to obtain $4,650-05 from the firm by fa se pretences.

Mr D. H. Blake appeared for the prosecution and Mr A. E. Craw for) the defence.

Re-examined by Mr 13lake, Mr Luhrs said the authorised capital of the Holland Pacific Trading Com pany, Id., was 1,000,000 guildera. The issued capital was 315,000 guilders. If he and to pay AD Account of $5,000, he could have easily settled it.
