She could not get into Swatow as there was not enough water to go over the bar. The Hong Mob waited till 4.30 p.m. that day and as there was still no water she left for Amoy. It was on the passage to Amoy that the ship struck the rocks. She struck Boat Rocks, about three miles from Lammock: Light, at about 7.20 that same evening.
