ADVENTURES OF THE TWINS.

FLOPPY COMES FOR LUNCH.

Lunch was partly on the table when Floppy Field-Mouse came creeping in from school. Mr. Munchie-Mouso was washing up at the sink and his wife was just helping out the soup.

Floppy was dreadfully hungry, because, as you know, he hadn't had a chance to sneak over to the corn-patch, for all be bad slipped away under the schoolmaster's very nose. He and Muffy Mole had been fighting like sillies, and the time had flown, The noon bell had driven them home.

Floppy began to whimpor, the only excuse he could think of for covering his swollen eye with his handkerchief.

"Don't worry, darlin'" soothed Mrs. Mouse. "The old lessons don't matter. What did the schoolmaster say?"

Now perhaps Floppy didn't do it on purpose (I can't say for sure), but just at that minute he let the corner of the hanky slip down from his eye-the one Muffy Mole had punched and Mrs. Mouse saw it.

"Munch," she abrieked, come here and look at your son! That awful schoolmaster has. You march over there right away and attend to him."

But Munchie just sat down calmly and began to eat bis soup. (To be continued to-morrow.)
