A CHAVES DE ONK DOLEA B IN MADE FOR ALL NUTIES UNDER THIS HRADING

In connection with the forth- [St. John's Cathedral, Hongkong.— coming Marathon Race for Europeans to be held on Thurs day Kowloon under the auspices of the St. Andrew's Church Men's Association s large number of applications for entries have been received by the Hon. Secretary (Mr. D. G. Purves) from the civilian as well as the naval and military sections of the community.

One pleasing feature of the race is that it will be contested over a uniformly level course, without any of those sleep inclines which gave such-difficul ty to many runners in last year's Marathon. The start is to be made from St. Andrew's Church, then along Nathan Road past the Yaumati Chinese Theatre to Ho Mus Tin and the Kow- loon Dairy. The course then leads along the new 100 foot road to Kowloon City, and goes back to the starting point by way of Hungbom, the Cement Works, Chatham Road, and past Signal Hill to Nathap Road. In all, the course measures seven miles. "

The first prize, in the shape of ja magnificent cup, has been pro- sented by Sir Paul Chater, whilst the minor ones are contributed by the following:---Captain Hiller. Messrs. W. Farmer, D. Purves and E. J. Noronha.

There are seventy-two names entered so far, for the race, and of these more than two-third- ate from the military and from naval ships. An endeavour to calculate the respective chances of these fairly unknown runners would be extremely hazardous. hat Lines (orporals Britten and Ralphs, who finished seventh and fourteenth respectively in last year's Marathon, may be re- garded as likely to cet places. Britten. it will be recalled. trok seventh place in the 1920 Marathon. and
